Great Land Window’s fiberglass windows and doors are high-quality products that are actually made to withstand Alaska’s harsh conditions.  It is generally understood that Vinyl (PVC), Wood, and Aluminum windows and doors are not ideal for Alaska’s unique climate; Vinyl’s expansion/contraction problems cause warping and its weak structural strength requires steel reinforcement, Wood swells and shrinks with the humidity, and Aluminum’s high thermal conductivity results in severe heat loss.  So why are most buildings spec’d with Vinyl, Wood, and Aluminum windows and doors?  The short answer is that the superior alternative was never readily available.  Till now...

Great Land Window manufactures fiberglass windows and doors.  Fiberglass is a proven material that offers clearly substantial improvements over vinyl, wood, and aluminum.  We utilize pultruded fiberglass frames, high-quality hardware, and a multitude of glazing options to construct the most appropriate windows and doors available for Alaska’s unique arctic conditions.  All common window and door types are available in a larger range of sizes than is possible with Wood or Vinyl frames.

Great Land Window manufactures several types of fixed and opening windows and doors.  All of our products are made with fully insulated fiberglass frames and sashes, stainless steel fasteners, commercial grade hardware, dual cold-temperature seals, and a wide variety of glass options.  We manufacture in Fairbanks and ship throughout Alaska.  All components are kept on premise simplifying maintenance and repair. We can fabricate almost any straight-line shape and connect them in almost any grouping or configuration.  The following are brief descriptions of our more common windows and doors.  Most windows can accommodate appropriately sized double, triple, or five-pane glass.

 Windows

  • Tilt / Turn:  An inward opening window that opens in two directions.  Turning the handle 90 degrees will allow you to turn the window inward on hinges mounted on the left or right.  Turning the handle 180 degrees will allow you to tilt the window inwards on hinges mounted horizontally at the bottom.  This is the tightest sealing, warmest window made due to the multitude of locking points that can be used on both sides, top, and bottom.  It is also commonly called a “European” or “Dual-Action” window.
  • Hopper:  An inward opening window with multi-point locks that is hinged at the bottom and tilts from the top.
  • Casement: An outward opening crank-operated window with multi-point locks.  This window is hinged on the left or right sides.
  • Awning: An outward opening crank-operated window with dual locks.  This window is hinged on the top and swings out from the bottom.
  • 700 Series:  An inward opening window hinged on the left, right, or bottom.  This window has a very basic design and is a less expensive option for an insulated fiberglass opening window.
  • 400 Series:  A window wall system that is far superior to aluminum window walls due to its insulated fiberglass frames and lower cost.  The frame can be structurally reinforced with steel or urethane to suit the application.

 Doors

  • Tilt / Turn:  An inward opening patio door that opens in two directions much like the Tilt/Turn window above.  Turning the handle 90 degrees will allow you to turn the window inward on hinges mounted on the left or right.  Turning the handle 180 degrees will allow you to tilt the window inwards on hinges mounted horizontally at the bottom.  This is the tightest sealing, warmest door made due to the 9-12 locking points that are fixed on the top, bottom, and both sides.

We have a multitude of fixed window styles to match the aesthetics and sightlines of all the opening windows and doors described above.  All of our products are made to fit, and can be combined in almost any combination.  Please call us for more detailed information.  As always, feel free to contact us at any time for more information.
